QR codes for restaurant tables that switch from lunch to dinner

A QR code on a restaurant table should be dynamic, so it can open the right menu for the time of day and survive every price change. Print it once on the table tent, then set rules for lunch and dinner and edit the menu whenever you need to.

Use one QR code for the whole room, or one per area if you want to see how the patio compares with indoors.

The times are yours to set. Change them for a holiday, then change them back.

A printed table code is stuck with one menu

With an ordinary QR code, the menu link is fixed the moment you print. So diners at dinner open the lunch menu, or staff keep two sets of table tents and swap them every afternoon.

With a dynamic QR code, the table tent stays put and the destination does the changing.

Set it up in three steps

  1. 1

    Upload each menu

Upload your menu as a PDF, or link to the menu page on your website. Keep lunch and dinner as separate files or pages.

  2. 2

    Set the times

Add a time-of-day rule for each service. Use a weekday rule for anything that only runs on some days, like a weekend brunch.

  3. 3

    Print the table tent

Download a print-ready file, check it scans, and print it. From then on, every menu change happens in your dashboard.

Getting the table tent right

Put a short line next to the QR code, like Scan for today's menu, and make it at least 3 cm wide so it scans from a seat. Low lighting makes scanning harder, so stick to strong contrast between the code and its background.

Keep a few paper menus for guests who would rather not use a phone.

Questions

Can diners order and pay through the QR code?

HueQR doesn't take orders or payments. If your ordering system has a link, the QR code can open it.

Do I need one QR code per table?

Only if you want scan counts per table or area. For menus alone, one QR code printed on every table is enough.

What happens to my menu if I cancel?

Your table QR codes keep redirecting for 14 days. After that, Keep-alive can keep up to 10 of them on for good. A lapsed QR code shows a paused page, never an ad.

Print it once, and keep it working

If you cancel, your QR codes keep redirecting for 14 days. Keep-alive keeps up to 10 of them on for good. A lapsed code shows a clean paused page, never an ad, and if HueQR ever closes you get 12 months' notice and a full export.
