QR codes for hotel rooms: one card for Wi-Fi, breakfast and checkout
A QR code for a hotel room should open one short page with everything a guest asks the front desk: Wi-Fi, breakfast hours, room service and checkout. Make it a dynamic QR code, so when the breakfast hours change you edit the page and leave the printed card alone.
With a language rule, the same card can open a translated page for guests whose phones are set to another language.
- Phone in FrenchFrench guest page
- 6am to 10amBreakfast menu
- After 10pmNight menu
- Everyone elseGuest page
Set each rule once and the card changes through the day by itself.
The room folder is out of date the day you print it
Printed compendiums cost money, get stained, and go stale as soon as the spa hours or the restaurant menu change. Most guests only want two or three facts, so they ring reception instead.
One QR code on the desk or nightstand gives them those facts straight away, and one edit updates every room.
Set it up in three steps
- 1
Build the guest page
Use a links page with up to 12 buttons, like Wi-Fi details, breakfast, room service and local tips, or point the QR code at a page you already have.
- 2
Decide how many QR codes
One QR code can serve the whole hotel. Use one per floor or room type if you want to compare scans. Pro includes 100 dynamic QR codes, and a code per room in a larger hotel fits an Organisation plan.
- 3
Add the language rules
Set rules for the languages your guests speak most, each pointing to a translated page. Everyone else sees your main page.
Where to put it in the room
A small tent card on the desk or nightstand works better than a sticker on the back of a door, because guests see it when they sit down. Add a short line like Scan for Wi-Fi and breakfast times, so they know why to scan.
Running the QR code on your own domain, like scan.yourhotel.com, shows your hotel's name in the phone's preview, which matters to guests who are wary of unknown links.
How Wi-Fi QR codes workQuestions
Can guests join the Wi-Fi straight from the QR code?
Yes. A Wi-Fi QR code joins the network when scanned. You can print that as a second QR code, or list the network details on the guest page.
Can HueQR take room service orders?
No. HueQR sends guests to the right page. If you have an ordering system or a menu page, the QR code can open that.
Does the language rule translate the page for me?
No. It sends each phone to the page you choose for that language, so you provide the translated pages.
Print it once, and keep it working
If you cancel, your QR codes keep redirecting for 14 days. Keep-alive keeps up to 10 of them on for good. A lapsed code shows a clean paused page, never an ad, and if HueQR ever closes you get 12 months' notice and a full export.
