QR codes for nonprofit donations: see which appeal actually raises money
A QR code for nonprofit donations should open your existing donation page, with a separate dynamic QR code for each appeal or location. That shows you which mailers and posters get scanned, and lets you redirect them to your next campaign when this one ends.
A donor's phone preview can show your own domain, so people can see the link really belongs to you.

When the appeal ends, its printed materials quietly move on to your general fund.
Print appeals are hard to measure
Charities spend scarce money on mailers and posters, then can't tell which ones worked. And when a campaign ends, its printed materials keep sending donors to a page that no longer matches.
Donors also have good reason to be careful with QR codes. Showing your own name in the link, and pointing to a page they recognize, helps them trust it.
Set it up in three steps
- 1
Link your donation page
Point the QR code at the donation page you already use. Add UTM parameters to see the results in your own analytics too.
- 2
One QR code per appeal
Create a QR code for each mailer, poster or tin, and name it clearly, like Spring mailer or Station poster.
- 3
Add your own domain
Run the QR codes on an address like give.yourcharity.org, so donors see your name when they scan.
Getting more people to scan
Say what the gift does right next to the QR code, like Scan to fund a week of meals, and name your charity clearly so the appeal can be trusted. Keep at least 2.5 cm of width on a mailer.
Stickers on public posters can be swapped by scammers, so check your outdoor materials now and then. HueQR can't stop someone covering a printed code, but your own domain gives donors a way to spot a fake.
Using a QR code on your own domainQuestions
Does HueQR take the donations?
No. HueQR opens your donation page, and your payment provider handles the money. HueQR takes no cut of what you raise.
Can I tell how much each QR code raised?
HueQR shows the scans for each QR code. Use UTM parameters and your donation platform to tie those scans to the money raised.
Are links checked for safety?
Yes. Every destination is checked against Google's list of unsafe sites, so a HueQR code can't point to a known bad page.
Print it once, and keep it working
If you cancel, your QR codes keep redirecting for 14 days. Keep-alive keeps up to 10 of them on for good. A lapsed code shows a clean paused page, never an ad, and if HueQR ever closes you get 12 months' notice and a full export.
