The short answer
To make a QR code for Google reviews, copy the review link from your Google Business Profile, paste it into a QR code generator, and print the code where customers see it at the moment they are pleased: the counter, the receipt, the table. The link opens the Write a review box directly, with the stars ready to tap, which is what makes the difference between people meaning to leave a review and actually leaving one.
Get the review link
Google gives every business a short link that opens the review box:
- Open your Google Business Profile (search your business name while signed in to the Google account that manages it).
- Find Ask for reviews, or Get more reviews, and copy the link it shows. It usually starts with g.page/r/ followed by letters.
- Open the link in a private browser window to confirm it goes straight to the review box.
Make the code dynamic, because that link can change
Google has changed the shape of review links before, and businesses move, merge or get a new profile. A static code printed on five hundred receipts is five hundred dead ends the day the link changes. A dynamic code holds a short link you control, so you update the destination once and every print keeps working. It also counts scans, which tells you which placement actually gets people to the review box.
Where it works best
Reviews come from people who are happy right now:
- On the receipt or the bill folder, with a one-line ask: Enjoyed it? Leave us a review.
- At the counter or checkout, at eye level.
- On a thank-you card inside a delivery or a parcel.
- On the inside of a service van door, for trades who finish a job in someone's home.
Design it to be read in two seconds
Use a frame with a label. The code alone says nothing; Scan to review tells the person what will happen. Keep squares dark on a light background. Add your logo if you like. Print at 3 cm or larger for a counter, and check the live scan meter is green before you download.
Play by Google's rules
Ask everyone, not only the people you expect to be positive, and never offer money, discounts or gifts for a review. Google removes reviews it believes were paid for, and can penalise the profile. The code just removes the friction; the review has to be theirs.
